Splash Into Summer with a Smokies Tradition

The Gatlinburg River Raft Regatta is a beloved July 4th tradition — a homemade raft race down the Little Pigeon River through downtown Gatlinburg. Crews launch handmade rafts at the Maples Lane bridge and float their way to Ripley’s Aquarium, cheered on by huge crowds along the riverbanks.

Free, festive, and fun — an easy addition to your Smith Creek Resort 4th of July plans.

Who It’s For: Families, river lovers, photographers, and fans of quirky community events.

What to Expect: Homemade rafts of every design floating downstream, cheering crowds, and a fun community atmosphere.

Do’s: Stake out a spot along River Road early, bring sunscreen and water, and stay behind safety lines.

Don’ts: Don’t enter the river, litter near the waterway, or bring pets to crowded riverside areas.
